The Walnut Refectory

A twelve-seat dining table cut from a single storm-felled walnut, its natural checks held with maple butterfly keys.

The concept

Designed for a stone-and-glass home in North Yorkshire, this table is the warm heart of a calm, minimal room. The client asked for something that felt “ancient yet refined”.

We sourced a single storm-felled walnut for the top. Natural checks and fissures were stabilised with contrasting maple butterfly keys, celebrating the timber’s history rather than hiding it.

Sample project written for this template; the piece and client are fictional.
