Sourcing sustainable oak

Why we visit the forests and sawmills we buy from, and what to ask your own supplier.

Good joinery starts long before the first cut. It starts in the forest, with the decisions made about which trees are felled and how the woodland is managed afterwards.

Questions worth asking

Where was the tree grown? Is the forest certified? How long has the timber been seasoned? A good supplier answers these questions without hesitation.

Why we visit

Seeing the woodland and the sawmill first hand tells us far more than a certificate. It also builds the relationships that give us first pick of the best boards.
